Purpose of Post: Following the development and introduction of Hydrogen and Electric zero emission vehicles this position will be key in supporting the Electrical Engineering function with activities relating to new product development, current contract fulfilment and departmental housekeeping. The post holder will have the opportunity to ensure vehicle electrical systems are integrated and installed to the highest standard and support engineering to implement documentation for guidance on best electrical installation practice. They will also be responsible for all electrical engineering lab and test equipment. Key Tasks: Responsible for providing practical hands-on assistance to NPD electrical engineers: Prepare vehicles or vehicle systems for testing and involvement in testing process as required. Creation of test set-ups, including harnesses, software programming interfaces, Vector configs etc. Attend test houses to support environmental and Homologation testing. Conduct design of experiment testing Undertake Sample disposition testing. Programming of replacement Control modules for in service vehicles Assist with fault diagnosis on prototype vehicles. Responsible for providing practical hands-on assistance to current contracts electrical engineers: Support programming and commissioning of vehicles in line with the production s chedule post end of line as required. Support production with charging of HV battery modules offline. Support Electrical Engineers with fault finding on production line. Undertake First in batch specification signoffs, in conjunction with Quality, to ensure contracts are built to customer requirements. Assist with customer option development and support mock-ups where required. Creation and update of detailed Work instructions (WMP) detailing critical installation methods. Creation of Rework instructions, Harnesses and BOMs Support alternative part integration. Responsible for General Electrical Engineering labs and equipment house-keeping. Organisation and inventory control of electrical test/diagnostic equipment. Track calibration certification updates for all applicable electrical engineering equipment Acquisition of test/diagnostic equipment per electrical engineering requirements. Tidiness and organisation of electrical engineering labs. Responsible for regular auditing of the electrical build processes and Bills of Material, Including: Audits to identify incorrect installation methods or non-conformance to WMP documents and follow up with manager. Audits to identify parts are delivered to the desired build cell and follow up with manager. Audits to identify if the Bill of Materials are correct for the relevant build areas and follow up with manager. Assisting with the investigation of warranty and in-service issues, including: Assisting with investigation of faults remotely and at Customer premises. Assisting with the resolution of warranty defects remotely and at Customer premises.
