The role

As part of the post and portering team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the University.
We are seeking a number of enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our busy post and portering team. As a member of this close-knit team, you will be responsible for the portering tasks within our organisation. It's a busy role, with a lot of variety, across two busy campuses where you will be communicating with colleagues and students on a regular basis. It is quite an active role where you will be on your feet for the majority of your day too.
During busy times, you can also further develop your skills by assisting the post team on our busy reception.
Responsibilities:
1. Assisting with the movement of goods, equipment, and supplies throughout the university.
2. Delivering items to different departments or locations as needed.
3. Responding to requests for furniture or equipment relocation within the premises.
4. Collaborating with team members to ensure timely completion of portering tasks.
5. Ensuring the safe handling and transport of waste streams including furniture, electrical items, food recycling, and confidential waste.
6. Undertaking training to acquire skills in other areas to provide support and coverage when required.
7. Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to seamlessly switch between roles as needed.
About You
Previous experience in a portering role is advantageous but not mandatory; we will provide you with full training. We are looking for the following attributes:
1. Physical fitness to handle lifting and moving of heavy objects or equipment.
2. Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
3. Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
4. Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
5. Driver's Licence is essential for this role.
