You will also provide HR support to our Supply Chain and Logistics function for the North and Scotland area, along with our Alternative Fuels Business. You will be required to attend meetings off site so an element of travel across the UK will sometimes be required.
This broad HR Manager role is an opportunity for you to partner with some key business stakeholders and work on a wide range of activities such as change initiatives, talent attraction and development, inclusion and diversity, employee engagement and business improvement initiatives.
Main Responsibilities:

2. Working with colleagues to deliver the business’ strategy on talent attraction, talent identification and development and succession planning.
3. Leading on early careers activities, including our educational engagement activities.
4. Working with stakeholders to ensure compliance with employment law and company policies.
5. Promoting and instilling a culture of consistency, equality, and fairness in our handling of employee relations matters, challenging stakeholders where appropriate.
6. Providing coaching and support to site management teams, to create an enabling and engaging culture.
7. Providing relevant HR KPI data, analysis, and insight.
8. Driving a high performance culture across the site.
9. Co-ordinating the annual performance review process and other such tasks required as part of the annual HR cycle.
10. Managing good working relationships with Trade Unions.
11. Supporting the organisation and delivery of training sessions and supporting the wider HR Team when needed.
The Ideal Candidate:
Suitable candidates for the role of HR Manager will be CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience) and possess a comprehensive understanding of HR principles and practices, coupled with relevant business experience and professional development.
The role of HR Manager will suit a well organised, agile, and resilient HR professional who also has:
1. Good working and practical understanding of employment law and how to deal with employee relations cases.
2. Proven track record of supporting business changes such as business transformations, reorganisations and TUPE transfers.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop strong relationships internally and externally.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Experience of working in a unionised environment.
6. High integrity and ability to challenge, impact and influence others.
7. Personal drive and a desire to succeed and improve.
8. Ability to impact and influence others.
9. Ability to assess, measure and identify key talent and ensure they fit with key organisational drivers.
In return, Tarmac provides an excellent salary, company car/allowance, bonus, PMI, on-going Training & Development, and a work environment that is inclusive, innovative and rewarding.
