About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Technology to lead the development and implementation of our IT and AV strategy across our diverse portfolio of businesses, globally. This is a unique opportunity to establish and build the technological foundations from the ground up, shaping the future of technology within a growing international media group. You will be responsible for ensuring our people and buildings, across the UK, US, and Australia, are equipped with the right technology, enabling us to reach the next level. This includes managing AV requirements for events at our London HQ, supporting studio equipment, overseeing all IT infrastructure, and implementing effective cloud-based solutions for rapid global data transfer within a fast-paced news cycle.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive IT & AV strategy aligned with the business objectives of each company within the OQS Media portfolio, with a focus on global collaboration and data sharing.
* Lead the strategic thinking on tech, bringing innovative solutions and best practices to the group, including cloud-based solutions for global communication and data transfer.
* Manage and oversee all IT and AV infrastructure, including networks, PoE, audio routing, security systems, and studio equipment across all locations.
* Manage IT and AV equipment inventory effectively and robustly.
* Engage with and manage external contractors supporting the business.
* Ensure the smooth operation of all systems, minimising downtime and resolving issues efficiently, globally.
* Develop and implement IT security policies and procedures to protect company data and systems.
* Collaborate with other departments across all locations to understand their technology needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in managing IT and AV infrastructure, ideally within a multi-site and international environment.
* Strong technical expertise in networking, PoE, audio routing, inventory management, and security.
* Experience managing external contractors.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders across different time zones and cultures.
* Strong leadership and team-building skills.
* A proactive and problem-solving approach.
* Experience with cloud-based solutions for global collaboration and data transfer.
* Experience in the news/publishing/media industry is beneficial but not essential.
