Support Worker
Salary: £12 per hour with £1 per hour extra on weekends and Bank Holidays
Hours: Flexible working hours available
Brainkind is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units, and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support people in regaining the skills they have lost. We treat individuals with a range of brain injuries—sustained through trauma, illness, substance abuse, and more—to recover and meet their personal goals. Our employees are incredibly passionate about their jobs—you’ll find a strong team spirit across our services and amazing colleagues who always pull together and look out for each other.
You will work with physically disabled adults with complex needs at a purpose-built unit with great access to the community. Your role is to support individuals in meeting their own needs, helping them gain the skills and confidence to live independently and/or return home. You will assist individuals in accessing the community, whether it's going swimming, to the cinema, sports events, concerts, or other activities based on their interests.
You will share the journey with these inspiring people as they overcome hurdles, achieve milestones, and reach their goals. You can make a significant difference and inspire those you work alongside.
The Role
This role is based in Jane Percy House, a 25-bed purpose-built unit in Cramlington, Northumberland, providing care and support to individuals with physical disabilities and complex needs. We have a sensory room and a sensory garden.
You will receive training to provide personalised support to individuals using our service, and during your induction, you will learn how to work alongside and support them. You will follow individual support plans to meet the needs and aspirations of each person.
You will find immense job satisfaction from seeing those you support do more for themselves and live the life they want. If you’re interested in building a career, we’re here to support you on your own journey.
You will work to Brainkind's values: be agile, resourceful, courageous, connected, and have heart. We incorporate these values into every aspect of our work, ensuring that the people who use our service are at the heart of everything we do.
We operate a 4-week rota system where teams work together, including evening and weekend shifts. Personal care is a requirement of this role for the individuals we support.
About You
We’re not looking for specific experience. Your personality and values will determine your fit for the role and our charity. We can train and develop you to become a great rehabilitation support worker if you:
1. Have genuine empathy for our residents, with the positivity, patience, and resilience to support them through the challenges of their rehabilitation.
2. Enjoy teamwork and take pride in completing tasks alongside your colleagues.
3. Possess excellent face-to-face communication skills and a good standard of literacy.
4. Have good time management skills and the ability to prioritise your workload.

You can look forward to excellent benefits, including discounts on various brands and services.
* A competitive rate of up to £13 per hour
