Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a major provider of integrated hospital and community services for people living in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area. This includes Thame (Oxfordshire), Tring (Hertfordshire) and Leighton Buzzard (Bedfordshire). We provide care to over half a million patients every year. We have over 6,000 highly trained clinical staff, including doctors, nurses, midwives, health visitors, therapists, and healthcare scientists.
Amersham Hospital is one of several Community Hospitals within the Trust. We have three inpatient areas: Chartridge Ward, Waterside Unit, and Buckinghamshire Neuro Rehabilitation Unit.
Chartridge Ward has an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join their team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This post would be suitable for individuals who have already completed their post-registration Preceptorship period due to the short-term nature of the opportunity. We will provide you with the structured support needed to transition your knowledge into everyday practice successfully based on your previous experience.
Main duties of the job
Chartridge Ward is a 22-bedded ward within the Community & Rehab Care Group. We care for individuals who are medically optimised for discharge, usually following a period in acute care, but who require nursing support until the appropriate care can be put into place to allow them to be discharged from hospital. This could be in the form of a Package of Care in the patient's own home, placement in a Nursing or Residential Home, or an assessment by Adult Social Care. Our patients often have multiple health needs and chronic conditions.
During your time on Chartridge Ward, you will gain a wide range of knowledge and nursing skills. These include:
1. Patient assessment
2. Care Planning
3. Tissue Viability & Wound Management
4. Discharge Planning & Co-ordination
5. Medicines Management
6. Palliative Care & Symptom Management
7. Diabetes Management
8. Continence management
And many more! Please see Job Description & Person Specification for further details and role specifics. As a Band 5 Nurse, you will also be involved with supporting student nurses and more junior colleagues.
On Chartridge, we pride ourselves on being a supportive team. We all learn from each other and look forward to learning from new team members.
