An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional senior clinical leader to join a dynamic and high-profile team within our Surgery and Planned Care Division, as the Divisional Medical Director at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced medical leader to support our medical leadership team in advancing the organisations clinical initiatives, ensuring the delivery of exceptional healthcare services and promoting continuous improvement in patient care.
As the Divisional Medical Director, you will support various teams within the division to oversee clinical operations and provide strategic direction. This role you will be responsible to be the key liaison between medical staff and executive leadership and will be expected to collaborate on critical initiatives to improve clinical efficiency and quality of care.
Main duties of the job
This is a key senior leadership role in the Trust, and we are looking for a highly experienced, ambitious individual with drive and passion to lead the Division, alongside the Divisional Director of Nursing and Divisional Director. This is a senior leadership role within the Trust; therefore, applicants should have prior experience of leadership roles with demonstrable NHS experience as a senior leader within their specialty. We are looking for a high performing individual, who is as excited as we are about the future strategic direction of integrated in Swindon, especially with the development and implementation of several service transformational projects and the development of our place-based strategy with system partners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1) Provide leadership within the designated clinical area to ensure the safety and effectiveness of services.
You will be expected
* To ensure that departments and Clinical Leads prioritise the safety, effectiveness and the patient experience of the services they deliver and that appropriate clinical governance processes are in place.
* Work within the ‘Tri’ arrangement with the Divisional Director, Divisional Director of Nursing and Clinical Leads to ensure that the senior team are working effectively.
* Engage with commissioners on service redesign and transformation.
* Work collaboratively with Executive Directors and Associate Medical Directors to ensure that services across Divisions are effectively delivered to the highest possible standard and delivered within budget.
Person specification
Experience
* Can demonstrate credibility within the Trust.
* Evidence of leadership and people management.
* A trained appraiser with knowledge of the GMC Revalidation appraisal standards.
* Experience of managing medical employee relation cases using Maintaining High Professional Standards.
Knowledge
* In depth knowledge of job planning.
* Ability to write and present business cases.
* Understanding of the principles of audit and continuous improvement.
* Experience of managing a budget and financial awareness.
