Opto-Mechanical Product Design Engineer
The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Opto-Mechanical Product Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This role will provide technical design expertise for opto-electronic product development, as well as supporting manufacture, new product introduction, and process optimisation.
Main responsibilities
* Define, design and develop opto-electronic products and solutions for harsh environment applications, including high temperature
* Mechanical model design (2D, 3D) and simulation including stress and thermal analysis
* Mechanical design to define and develop optical fibre interconnect and coupling solutions; design and integration of custom product enclosures to achieve robust and hermetic packaging solutions
* Mechanical design of various tools and jigging to support manufacture processes
* Input to define product specifications, engineering packages and to assist in generating manufacture documentation and configuration
* Assist in set up of prototype manufacture equipment and processes, including carrying out and overseeing first off trials and assembly
Education/qualifications
* Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
Experience
* Strong opto-mechanical background and manufacture experience
* Highly experienced user of 2D & 3D mechanical CAD and simulation for complex design and analysis
* Product design and optimisation for volume manufacture
* Good awareness of manufacture processes and equipment related to fibre products manufacture
* Working knowledge of materials and technologies related to ceramic and thick film, MCM and PCB based solutions
* Expert user in SolidWorks CAD or equivalent
* High reliability microelectronics product design (preferably AS9100, MIL-PRF-38534)

Other requirements
* Some travel may be required
* SC clearance or ability to obtain
