Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon ready to take the next step in your career? Do you aspire to develop your leadership skills in a supportive and progressive environment? If so, we have an outstanding opportunity for you at an award-winning, independent small animal practice.
Founded in 1998, our client is a well-established, RCVS-accredited small animal practice located in a charming seaside town in Somerset. With 26 years of dedicated service, the practice has earned numerous accolades, including Pet Plan's 'Practice of the Year' and 'Veterinary Employer of the Year' awards. The practice is recognised for its excellence in client and in-patient service, achieving an Outstanding' rating from the RCVS, as well as ISFM Gold Cat-Friendly and RWAF Silver status. Additionally, they are proud to be an Investors in People employer.
In 2019, our client expanded their premises to include separate cat and dog facilities, complete with dedicated waiting rooms, consult rooms, hospitalisation areas, two theatres, a dental suite with dental X-ray, and an imaging suite, including endoscopy. They are committed to clinical excellence and have exciting plans underway to build an extension that will house a CT scanner and open a new standalone clinic.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to step into a leadership role and make a significant impact on the future direction of the practice. You will join a longstanding and experienced team, many of whom have been with the practice for over five years. Their team includes vets with certificates in Surgery, Cardiology, ECC, and Dermatology, as well as an amazing nursing team of 14 RVNs, 2 SVNs, and 2 ACAs. Our client is also an RCVS-accredited nurse training practice with RVNs holding certificates in anaesthesia, feline nursing, and behaviour.
As a Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will enjoy a blend of clinical work (3 days per week) and protected non-clinical time (1 day per week) to focus on driving improvements and advancing clinical performance. Your responsibilities will include mentoring and leading the team, identifying training needs, creating personal development plans, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all staff to grow their skills.
Our client is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for leadership and a commitment to clinical excellence. Ideally, you will have a bias towards medicine, although this is not essential. Experience as a VetGDP advisor is preferred, or you should be willing to undergo training to become one.
If you are ready to take the next step in your career and play a key role in the continued success of a leading veterinary practice, we would love to hear from you.
