We provide vital support to young people across Wakefield, helping them assess their strengths, plan for success, and transition smoothly into employment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Job Coaching & Placement: Provide personalized job coaching, identify suitable job placements, and incorporate assistive technology.
* Induction & Awareness: Attend business inductions to help interns understand their roles and promote disability awareness among co-workers.
* Communication: Keep parents updated regularly and collaborate with tutors and mentors on student progress.
* Event Planning: Organize inductions, information nights, and graduation ceremonies.
* Marketing & Outreach: Develop marketing materials for newsletters, websites, and community presentations.
* Training & Development: Teach skills in grooming, hygiene, communication, and travel to job sites.
* Support & Problem-Solving: Address challenges related to training and employment with employers and families.
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to legal safety standards and promote efficiency in host businesses.
* Documentation: Complete job coaching paperwork and apply for Access to Work allowances.
* Continuous Learning: Stay informed about educational trends and collaborate with the team to support student welfare.
Skills, Experience and Qualification
The ideal candidate will have:
* Education: NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in Careers Education, Youth Work, or Social Care (or willingness to obtain).
* Training: Level 3 BASE Education and Training Award (or willingness to obtain).
* Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient with IT tools.
* Innovation & Leadership: An entrepreneurial mindset with proven leadership and management experience.
* Team Collaboration: Experience fostering a positive team culture and building effective partnerships.
* Organisational Skills: Ability to manage your workload and meet contract KPIs.
* Relationship Building: Strong ability to develop relationships with stakeholders.
* Service Development: A track record of creating new services and generating income.
* Professionalism: A demeanour that builds credibility and confidence with clients and stakeholders.
* Legislative Knowledge: Understanding of relevant policies and guidelines related to children and young people.
Experience
o Experience of delivering mental health and wellbeing interventions in a case management approach
o Experience of working with primary or secondary Health/social care services
o Experience of facilitating and supporting clients with complex and/or multiple barriers to success in health and social care settings
o Able to demonstrate being highly organised, have good planning skills and be able to deliver to agreed targets
o Understanding of the 6 Ways to Wellbeing and it’s practical application
o Understanding of inclusion, mental health and anti-stigma
o Knowledge of Housing and health and social care system and the application of wellbeing and prevention
