Multiskilled Main Layer with ELR

Emergency Rota: 1 in every 4 days
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
Relocation benefits: £2500 one of payment + £600 p/m for 24 months
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading gas distribution company for a Multiskilled Main Layer with ELR to relocate from England to Guernsey. This company are the sole provider of gas utility, providing natural gas and liquified petroleum to domestic, commercial and industrial customers across the Channel Islands. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled and safety-conscious individual to join a dedicated network operations team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and high-quality delivery of services across the gas distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
Working under the guidance of the Network Officer, you will be responsible for:
Executing a range of field-based tasks, including:
Mains replacement and surveying
New service installations
District governor maintenance
Dial Before You Dig services
Service disconnections
Supporting the evaluation and categorization of gas escapes
Carrying out routine and emergency maintenance activities on the gas network
Contributing to hazard resolution efforts and the investigation and control of leakage
Assisting in the collection and accurate reporting of operational data
Providing updated and accurate drawings of the distribution network as required
Collaborating with contractors and external agencies on site
Ensuring minimal disruption to customers while maintaining efficiency
Participating in a 1-in-4 emergency call-out rota

Candidate Profile
Experience in a similar role within the gas distribution or utilities sector
Strong technical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills
A proactive, hands-on approach and attention to detail
Commitment to health and safety best practices
Ability to communicate effectively with team members, customers, and the public
Flexibility to participate in a rotating emergency call-out schedule
ELR (Emergency Leakage Response) experience is highly desirable
