Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry Hillingdon Older Peoples Mental Health Services, Goodall Division Permanent, 10PAs
We have an exciting Consultant Psychiatrist role in London working with Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (OACMHT) with input to the Home Treatment Service which is part of the OACMHT. The post holder will have the same responsibilities in the CMHT and HTS.
CNWL has built on excellent links with Brunel University. The successful candidate will have the option to take up an extra 1PA as an educational post.
The candidate should be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job
The Hillingdon Older Adults CMHT is a well-established multidisciplinary team located at the Woodland Centre. Staff are experienced in integrated multi-agency working. CMHT referrals are triaged daily and feedback discussed at a weekly clinical meeting that is chaired by the Team Manager. The CMHT undertakes comprehensive assessments and treatment working to the model of New Ways of Working. All qualified team members carry out standardised initial assessments, which are discussed at the weekly team meeting.
Job responsibilities
1. To offer consultant leadership and expertise to the Hillingdon Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) for older people and Home Treatment Service (HTS).
2. To take a lead in assessing and following up the most complex and difficult cases referred to the CMHT and HTS.
3. To support and develop the provision of community mental health services for older people in Hillingdon and HTS.
4. To play an active role in developing and realising the strategic direction of the service.
5. To support the service manager in the management of the service.
6. To audit activity leading to more effective and better-targeted services.
7. The post holder will be expected to lead on, in partnership with the Clinical Lead and Service Manager, quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation projects.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice.
* On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completion of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
* Approved under section 12(2) MHA, 1983 or be within 3 months of completion.
* Approved Clinician status.
* MRCPsych or equivalent.
* CCT in Old Age Psychiatry.
* Management training/qualifications.
* Recognised Royal College of Psychiatrists specialist registrar trainer.
Knowledge
* Up-to-date knowledge in management of adults with learning disability.
* Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
* Specialist interest as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies.
* Knowledge of current issues in national strategic direction.
* Application of evidence-based practice and interest in clinical and policy developments for this care group.
* Development of close collaboration with general hospital services.
Skills
* Ability to work within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework, and to share leadership responsibilities with senior colleagues of other professions.
* Ability to promote effective team working.
* Active participation in clinical audit.
* Must have good skills in communication with patients, relatives/carers, colleagues and staff of other organisations.
* Experience in supervising basic and advanced level psychiatric trainees.
* Relevant experience of the administrative, management and leadership roles of senior medical staff.
* Undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching.
* Research experience and skills.
