Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
* be accountable for the allocation, deployment, prioritisation and delivery of Early Intervention in Psychosis services
* implement and review systems, policies, standards and procedures that ensure the provision of high-quality services
* be an experienced qualified nurse, social worker or occupational therapist
* have experience of working in community based mental health services, and of supervising and leading staff
* be responsible for the management of a multi-disciplinary Health and Social Care service.

Job responsibilities
To provide overall leadership for the Early Intervention Service to ensure their services are integrated with and responsive to, other local service needs.
To ensure (in conjunction with appropriate lead professionals) that practice within the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service meets relevant standards, is appropriate, timely, safe and follows agreed professional practice.
To be responsible for the overall management of the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service and, work in conjunction with the Team Leaders, and sites coordinator of all facilities, services and processes provided therein, including accommodation and site management.
To develop and monitor systems, policies, standards and procedures, that ensures compliance with best practice requirements of the Trust and County Council in line with both agencies strategic policies and the strategic plans of the relevant CCGs and NHSE.
In partnership, to identify trends, strengths and weaknesses that may influence the development of the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service and to develop a culture of continuous improvement throughout the service.
To develop and monitor systems, policies and standards to assure service compliance with NICE guidelines and national First Episode in Psychosis pathway standards in line with NHSE guidance
Person Specification
Knowledge, Training, Experience
* First or higher degree
* Professional qualification in relevant area of health or social care, particularly within the specialism of psychosis
* Postgraduate qualification or formal management training
Skills and Experience
* Minimum of 2 years management experience in relevant area of health or social care
* Demonstrable success in performance management and appraisal with multi-disciplinary staff group
* Demonstrable success at managing change and development
* Demonstrable success in quality improvement
* Proven ability in making a significant contribution to the achievement or organisational objectives
* Proven ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines
* Experience of working with Service Users and Carers
* Experience of work involving Clinical Governance
* Knowledge of and ability to use contemporary management and management information techniques
Communication Skills
* Sound knowledge of Department of Health policy, especially regarding health and social care policies for Mental Health in both primary and secondary and specialist areas
* Sensitivity to the needs of service users and carers
* Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Understanding of Clinical Governance
* Understanding and knowledge of the 1983 Mental Health Act
* Ability to organise and prioritise a complex workload
* Ability to recruit, lead and develop first line managers in accordance with policy
* Ability to direct and advise front line staff managers and staff in identifying and taking appropriate action relating to risk assessments
* Ability to produce clear, written statistical and financial reports
