The operational manager for Long Term Conditions (LTC) will support the Senior Operations Manager and the wider senior management team to achieve excellence in our patient care and pathways.
Responsible for the operational and service management, delivery and development for Long Term Conditions and staff group. The directorate is part of the Urgency Emergency Care and Medicine Care Group. Within LTC we cover the following specialties/services: Diabetes & Endocrinology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Respiratory, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Respiratory, Neurology & Neurophysiology as well as long-covid services.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the strategic and operational planning of named services within the Care Group.
* Ensure the delivery of a responsive, high quality, value for money service.
* Develop services in line with the Trust’s strategic direction.
* In line with Care Group and Trust strategy, develop and lead best practice, service modernisation and improvement plan for the area, to enhance the patient experience and deliver value for money.
* Lead on service development for named services, developing and implementing policy for that area, proposes changes in conjunction with working groups which have wider implications/develops service wide performance, service policies. To include the development of business cases and Project plans.
* Be responsible for the management of risk and issue tracking and being proactive in resolution and escalation processes.
* Be accountable for delegated budgets for designated cost centres and ensure the achievement of financial balance.
* Lead the development and delivery of cost improvement programmes and manage expenditure within designated control levels.
* Lead in the effective management of establishment control within budgets.
* Lead, manage, motivate and develop staff within designated teams/Services, and to maintain the highest level of staff morale and to create a climate within the care group characterised by high standards of openness.

Qualifications and training
* Leadership and Management qualification/experience/knowledge (e.g. Chartered management institution, Leadership and management apprenticeship).
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
* Professional operational service delivery and business management knowledge.
* Proven relevant professional operational service experience working in an acute Trust in an admin or clinical capacity.
* Demonstrate advance understanding of hospital systems and processes relevant named services.
* Ability to work with multiple IT/software applications, i.e. use of spreadsheets / compiling statistics.
* Post graduate diploma/Level 7 study or equivalent experience.
