Busway Safety Officer
Grade:
SO2
Overall Purpose of the Job:
Busway Safety Officers will conduct daily and monthly inspections of the busway and vehicles, identifying defects and hazards, and ensuring accurate records are maintained, with control measures in place and followed to minimise risk. They will support the Lead Safety Officer in implementing corrective actions and act as a key liaison between contractors and maintenance teams.
The role involves establishing good customer relationships with contractors, maintenance teams, the wider Highways and Transport (H&T) service, and other stakeholders, with a commitment to a “Safety First” approach to deliver a safe and sustainable experience for all users and workers.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
* NEBOSH (Occupational Health and Safety) or IOSH (Managing Safely in Rail) (Essential)
* Certificated Health & Safety Training (Essential)
Knowledge and Skills:
* Experience in engineering, infrastructure maintenance, or a safety role related to transportation (Essential)
* Qualifications in transport safety or maintenance (Essential)
* Knowledge of the Railway and Transport Safety Act 2003, and Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (Essential)
* Good communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills (Essential)
* Methodical approach to record-keeping and enquiries (Essential)
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines (Essential)
* Ability to travel to various sites, including locations with limited public transport and difficult access (Essential)
Experience:
* Experience working with busways, tramways, and/or railways (Essential)
* Experience working within Busway transport networks or other guided transport (Essential)
Other:
