As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be a vital part of the school team, working directly with students who have Special Educational Needs. Your role will be to assist them in accessing the curriculum, ensuring they feel supported, confident, and able to engage with all aspects of their education. The role offers both challenges and rewards, as you’ll be able to witness firsthand the progress students make with your support. You'll work closely with teachers and other staff to tailor learning activities to individual student needs, ensuring an inclusive learning environment. Your Responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant: Provide tailored support to students with SEN, either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Assist in delivering and adapting lessons to meet the needs of students with different learning styles and challenges. Support students with personal care and mobility when necessary. Help manage and promote positive behaviour, encouraging students to develop strong social and emotional skills. Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to assess student progress and implement specific learning strategies. Create an environment in which students feel confident, valued, and motivated to participate. Foster positive relationships with students, helping them become independent learners and confident individuals. What We Are Looking For: Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is desirable, though not essential. A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach when working with students with a range of needs. Strong communication skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff. A flexible and proactive attitude, with the ability to respond to changing needs in the classroom. A genuine passion for supporting students to reach their full potential and overcome any barriers to learning. An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, and a commitment to promoting student welfare.
