Job Description The Rail Wales & Western Project Director will be responsible for leading the Project Management team in the Rail sector within the Wales and Western region. This role encompasses stakeholder engagement, client intelligence, business development, budget management, pipeline oversight, winning and delivering frameworks and projects, and ensuring governance and reviews are consistently applied throughout bidding, project management, and design delivery. The Project Director will also collaborate closely with other Regional Project Management Leads and the Professional Head to ensure effective project delivery across the region. This region plays a key role by supporting major pursuits in other regions, in addition to delivering its own projects. Key external stakeholders include Network Rail, West of England Combined Authority (WECA), and various Design & Build (D&B) Framework Contractors. Role: Safety Leadership: Support the safety culture and initiatives across the region, ensuring adherence to safety standards and best practices. Work Winning & Client Engagement: Foster and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners to build a robust project pipeline and ensure delivery of target revenue and margin. Lead high-value bids and frameworks, ensuring alignment with business growth objectives. Promote a culture of success within the team and drive a winning strategy for the region. Collaborate with other areas of AECOM (including different sectors and Client Account Managers) to support overall business growth and strategy. Oversee business development and bid delivery, ensuring alignment with budget and strategic objectives. Motivate and manage the regional team to develop and sustain effective client relationships and opportunity pipelines. Excellence in Execution: Promote the use of robust governance and business processes to ensure effective project delivery. Ensure projects are adequately resourced and managed to meet client expectations and business goals. Champion technical oversight and quality assurance across all regional projects. Lead the development of talent within the region, supporting succession planning and team growth. Collaborate with other regional project management leads within AECOM to deliver best-in-class bids and projects. People & Team Development: Build and manage a high-performing Rail Project Management team in the Wales & Western region. Ensure the team has a clear structure, with defined development and succession plans. Foster a collaborative culture that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning. Represent the R,S&GE Regional Director when required in meetings and key client interactions.
