EOL Mechanical Fitter & Installation Engineer – Based Poole
Candidates need to hold a full UK licence.
Basic salary up to £39,000 plus excellent benefits.
As an EOL Mechanical Fitter & Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for the assembly, build, finessing, and testing track and trace machinery. This is a “hands-on” role.
You will have a good understanding of mechanical design processes, assemblies, and manufacturing. Any experience in FMCG and automation would be advantageous.
You will attend site customers' factories from a mechanical viewpoint to ensure a safe installation of the company’s systems into the customer’s production lines. Any experience of installing or building automation machines using PLCs, vision systems, and coding systems would be an advantage.
Candidate Skills
1. Completed a time-served apprenticeship, mechanically biased or HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or be qualified by experience.
2. Demonstrate 3/5 years’ experience working within bespoke systems/machine design and manufacture with strong technical knowledge. Any experience of working abroad on customer projects is desirable.
Duties
1. You will be the first point of contact for management to discuss daily challenges such as production problems, parts fitting, design problems, failures, and successes.
2. Be responsible for the build and testing of the C&T (Track & Trace) machines from general assemblies and piece parts to functionally tested, customer-ready production machinery. Consult with the engineering and controls department to drive through machine improvements and upgrades.
3. Consult with the various supply chain departments to advise of shortages, changes, or delays and check compliance and conformity criteria, including floor plans, machine quality, and safety compliance.
4. Work under the continuous improvement initiative, undertaking R&D tasks to improve the current machine range and developing new systems where appropriate.
5. Consult with the C&T division, such as electricians, controls engineers, software engineers, and management, to ensure efficient and effective communication flow in all project-related topics.
6. Responsible for the mechanical installation of our newly supplied C&T equipment and machinery and assist the team leaders with tasks such as electrical and mechanical installations, fault finding, designing, and implementing interfaces with pre- and post-machinery, and machine sign-off, including arranging and overseeing the acceptance protocol.
7. Collaborate with customer stakeholders, counter-party suppliers, and the on-site team to ensure a smooth installation from start to finish.
8. Install third-party equipment such as printers/lasers and flexlink handling systems.
9. Ensure the machinery is installed safely and is compliant with local and international standards and provide mechanical training to the customer.
10. Look for opportunities within the customer factories to improve production processes and generate new C&T business.
11. Cultivate an understanding of coding, labelling, vision systems, and Beckhoff hardware and software to enable setup, commissioning, and testing of said equipment on-site and develop a proficient understanding of the different processes and services offered by the Track & Trace division.
