As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will work within the IT Infrastructure Team, reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager. Your primary role is to support and maintain desktops, laptops, software, and associated peripherals. Duties of this position include the installation, configuration, and support of operating systems and applications; participation in remote site administration; and production support activities.
Key Role Responsibilities:
1. Responding to end user support requests.
2. Contacting end users to find out the nature of the problem.
3. Potential travel to satellite offices and ability to work after hours when necessary.
4. Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
5. Installing and maintaining hardware and computer peripherals.
6. Installing and upgrading operating systems and computer software.
7. Completing job reports and ordering supplies.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Knowledge of popular operating systems, software applications, and remote connection systems.
2. Good written and verbal communication skills.
3. Excellent punctuality skills.
4. Previous experience in a similar role.
5. Excellent communication and people skills.
6. Willingness and ability to learn new skills and use new types of technology.
7. Ability to prioritise and perform the required solutions and competency in installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware and software.
Desirable Attributes:
1. Microsoft Office technology experience.
2. Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.
3. Basic understanding of backup technologies.
4. Previous experience with Adobe products.
