Key Responsibilities
The role will be primarily focused on all aspects of the waste, recycling, and circular economy sectors and will contribute to business development activities and assisting other specialists on a range of projects both in the UK and overseas. You will work with others in the process engineering team and other disciplines across the business including the Advisory, Environmental Management and Compliance, Land and Water, and Environmental Specialist Services Groups on a wide variety of different projects.
1. Managing waste and recycling and circular economy projects across the life of a project, preparing concept designs and completing feasibility studies;
2. Assisting with review of third-party designs, technical proposals and operational models and writing technical due diligence reports for funders;
3. Preparing technical and procurement documentation and schematics/drawings and management of contracts through our role in plant construction projects;
4. Assisting with preparation of models to determine plant energy and mass balances, emission rates and financial/operational models including thermodynamic calculations and basic financial metrics;
5. On-site inspection, witnessing, verification and supervision of construction, commissioning, and testing projects and troubleshooting of operational plant including waste and recycling operations (thermal, mechanical, biological) and other renewable energy and sustainability-based projects;
6. Developing relationships with existing and new clients, attending conferences, developing prospects, writing proposals and winning new projects;
7. Assisting other teams within SLR with technical and process engineering aspects of diverse projects.

About You
You will have a degree in engineering and experience of managing projects in the waste and recycling or related fields. You will be able to work as part of a team and fit into SLR’s One Team culture. You will have excellent communication skills and be positive and friendly.
Essential
1. Degree in Engineering or similar subject;
2. Significant experience in project management in the recycling and waste/recovery or related fields;
3. Numerate and experienced with data, basic modelling with excellent report writing skills and IT literate, particularly with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
4. Must be able to work independently and within a team;
5. Well organised and logical thinker, friendly and outgoing with good communication skills;
6. Full, current, clean driving licence valid in the UK with ability to travel.
Desirable
1. Masters degree in a relevant subject;
2. Chartered Engineer (or working towards a professional qualification or membership of a professional body);
3. Experience working on site, health and safety and CDM (Construction Design Management Regulations 2015);
4. Experience of operations, contract management and procurement;
5. Committed to help progress towards achieving sustainability and environmental targets.
