Weave Creativity and Practical Skills into the Curriculum A vibrant girls' school in Acton, West London, seeks a passionate and creative Design & Technology Teacher with a specialism in Textiles. This full-time, permanent position, commencing in January 2025, offers a fantastic opportunity to inspire a love of design and making, and equip students with valuable practical skills in a supportive and empowering learning environment. The School: Creative Expression: Values creativity and self-expression, providing a range of opportunities for students to explore their artistic talents and develop their design skills. Well-Equipped Facilities: Offers a dedicated Design & Technology department with well-equipped workshops, including sewing machines, textile printing equipment, and a range of fabrics and materials. Supportive Environment: Fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation, where students are encouraged to experiment, take risks, and develop their own unique design styles. Pastoral Focus: Committed to the well-being and personal development of each student, providing a nurturing and supportive environment. The Role: Inspire and Engage: Deliver engaging and differentiated Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on Textiles. Project-Based Learning: Guide students through exciting design projects, encouraging them to develop their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the planning and delivery of a dynamic and enriching Design & Technology curriculum that incorporates current industry practices and sustainable design principles. Pastoral Involvement: Play an active role in the pastoral care of students, supporting their well-being and personal development. Candidate Profile: Qualified Teacher: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a genuine passion for Design & Technology education. Subject Expertise: Demonstrate a strong understanding of textile design principles, techniques, and materials. Engaging Educator: Employ innovative teaching methods to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
