Here at Long-Term teachers we are working on behalf of a rapidly growing special educational needs school who are looking to appoint a talented, proactive and resilient teacher to start in September.
You will be responsible for a year 7 nurture class, based in a new purpose-built nurture facility that provides wrap-around care, education and specialist support for students with a variety of needs including autism and ADHD.
What it’s like to work in a SEN school:
* Young people may not have had the best start to life, experienced trauma or have high levels of anxiety
* Unlike mainstream schools, they have much smaller class sizes
* There are more support staff in the room to work with
* The curriculum is tailored to the needs of the pupils

About the role:
* Planning and delivery of core subjects, life skills and a specialist curriculum (including communication, interaction and social skills)
* Adapt teaching to respond to the needs of individual students
* Be resilient, proactive and confident
* Work collaboratively with other members of staff to create the best learning environment
* Manage behaviour effectively
* Previous experience in a SEN setting or working within a mainstream school is essential
