A fantastic new opportunity to join our growing Digital Displacement® team has arisen for a Mechanical Product Development Engineer, to be based at our site in Loanhead, Edinburgh, UK (EH20 9TB). This role will afford someone the opportunity to play a part in creating the next generation of disruptive technology in hydraulics, empowering our customers to further their green agenda through fuel saving and electrification. Job Responsibilities As part of a small team of Mechanical Engineers you will participate in product development of prototypes handed over by the R&D team. You will have a hands-on approach and be involved in many aspects of the design life cycle, and play a leading part in taking prototypes developed by the R&D team to product launch within the Product Development Process. Your day to day activities will be varied and can include: Design and implement component or product validation tests using reliability and robust engineering practices to satisfy product and customer requirement specifications Produce documentation to support tests, design, or changes. Create and maintain product specifications Stackups Supporting CAE activities Participating in and supporting Design reviews Supporting/ creating CAD and engineering drawings in NX Supporting Change management in Teamcentre (PLM) Owning engineering product specification like assembly, cleanliness, etc. Supporting continuous development of products, problem solving within 8D and other frameworks. Collaborate with a multi-functional and international team, liaising with other stakeholders in purchasing, quality and manufacturing on a continuous basis. Background & Skills You'll have a passion for engineering and detailed experience of working in industry, supported by a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or related discipline. In addition, you'll have experience of: Rotating machinery design and development Testing of products Design FMEA Designing for manufacture (DfM), assembly (DfA), etc. Knowledge of Computer Aided Engineering tools such as Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, magnetics simulation Design tools such as tolerance stackups, joint analysis, etc. Using product lifecycle management tools such as Siemens Teamcenter Experience of using CAD (preferably NX) for 3D models and 2D drawings Experience with PLM tools (Teamcenter preferred) Knowledge of change management processes Danfoss – Engineering Tomorrow At Danfoss, we are engineering solutions that allow the world to use resources in smarter ways – driving the sustainable transformation of tomorrow.
