We have an established social work academy in Hull with strong support across the whole council. Our vision is to create and sustain conditions for outstanding social work and leadership by providing high-quality support, learning, and development for social workers at all career stages, as well as for managers and leaders. We aim to make Hull a destination of choice for those seeking a fulfilling social work career and wanting to deliver excellent services that positively impact children by reducing risks and increasing safety and belonging.
The academy will enhance our recruitment efforts by attracting and supporting new entrants, including student social workers, apprentices, step-up routes, and Newly Qualified Social Workers. We are committed to 'growing our own' and providing the right support and learning environment to develop passionate and resilient social workers dedicated to making a difference in Hull.
Hull City Council is dedicated to our children and young people, fostering a culture that prioritizes their needs by empowering our workforce to collaborate, be open, honest, respectful, and responsible. If you share these values, we would love to hear from you.
The academy offers exciting opportunities for motivated individuals eager to join our team and deliver high-quality, innovative services.
Due to the retirement of the current Academy Manager, we are recruiting a fixed-term Academy Manager for two years.
We seek someone with drive, determination, and ambition to make a significant impact. The Academy Manager will support improvement initiatives across the directorate, ensuring high-quality safeguarding services and working towards our vision of more children living safely at home within their families.
The role focuses on recruitment efforts, attracting and supporting new entrants, including students, apprentices, and NQSWs. The Manager will establish strong relationships with local universities and colleges to maintain a pipeline of high-quality social workers, ensure high practice standards, and promote evidenced-based practice.
The Manager will directly supervise practice educators and leads, working closely with learning and development colleagues to provide a responsive, relevant training program that supports high-quality social work practice.
The Academy Manager will report to the Principal Social Worker, hold a social work qualification, and possess relevant experience.
