This is a great opportunity to work on highly skilled live television productions and be part of the Broadcast Assistant team at Volant Media.
The Broadcast Assistant reports to the Lead Broadcast Assistant, working in a team that is expected to deliver live and pre-recorded Television shows. This role has multiple requirements, including a thorough knowledge of the Farsi/Dari language (to native standard) and excellent timekeeping and organisational skills.
Responsibilities
1. To operate prompt equipment during all live and recorded programmes.
2. Ensuring the rundowns are loaded correctly.
3. Operate and adjust/alter settings.
4. Ability to recognise and escalate equipment failures.
5. Liaising as required with presenters over talkback.
6. Understand and apply gallery etiquette to everyday working practices.
7. Ability to listen attentively especially for changes and adlibbing.
8. Liaise daily and work with Programme Directors across different formats, studios and different presenters.
9. Deal with a changing news agenda and check emails for bookings and updates.
10. Check documentation for specific shows and updates sent by team leads and be proactive in the reading of documentation.
11. To undertake all other reasonable duties as required.
Requirements
1. Fluent in Farsi, and good English language.
2. Excellent spelling and grammatical skills in Farsi.
3. Proficient in the use of gallery equipment.
4. Proficient use of IT systems.
5. Calm and assured nature under pressure.
6. An excellent team player with a flexible attitude to fit with changing requirements.
7. Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
8. Ability to concentrate for long periods.
9. Good time management skills, and flexible approach to shift work across 24 hours including overnights, weekends and public holidays.
10. Ability to learn new skills outside of the core role to support output.
11. Excellent problem-solving skills.
12. An interest in global News and Current affairs.
