Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Company:
Our client is a fast-growing, ambitious, and successful main contractor with an established reputation across the Bristol and wider South West markets, on fast-paced refurbishment and fitout projects. Typical projects are across commercial and accommodation sectors with typical values between £100k - £3million. The company has an established commercial structure beneath a Commercial Director, and is able to offer guidance, development, and progression opportunities. The role will quickly progress to Quantity Surveyor.
Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Role:
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the regional commercial team based from the office, with 1-2 days on site or from home. You will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day commercial aspects of fast and exciting refurbishment projects, working closely with a Senior QS.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
1. To ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project.
2. Help to prepare the cost/value reconciliation reports accurately.
3. Prepare and agree interim valuations at the agreed dates to gain the best commercial advantage for the company.
4. Assist in agreeing final accounts with subcontractors to maximise project margins.
5. Ensure sub contract orders are prepared in accordance with company procedure with reference to the date given on the procurement schedules and/or in accordance with the contract programme having achieved the appropriate approvals.
6. Maintain control of subcontractor's accounts and minimise the cost of any variations.
7. Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence.
8. To carry out duties as quantity surveyor on projects as instructed.
9. Prepare or assist with cost/value reconciliation reports on a monthly basis accurately reporting the forecast final financial position of the project.
10. Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts as directed by line manager at the commencement of all projects, updating as required and recording actual valuation achieved against forecast.
Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Person:
1. You will have at least 12 months experience with either a national or regional construction business.
2. Demonstrable experience of working on refurbishment projects beneficial.
3. Keen to progress a long-term career as QS.
4. Innovative - ability to identify better ways of doing things.
5. A good team player, someone who wants to be part of a growing business to achieve common goals.
6. Commutable to Bristol without relocation.
