We're looking for an Industrial Placement - End User Computing (EUC) Engineer to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Industrial Placement - EUC Engineer, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Met Office on a 12-month Year in Industry placement, developing your skills and knowledge and ensuring you gain the most value possible from your experience with us. You will act as a force multiplier across the whole business, your skills and the services we provide underpin all the amazing work the Met Office does, you are empowered to make change and see the impact of your work.

Your key duties
* Supporting modern Windows desktop, hardware lifecycle, Microsoft 365, and wider aspects of End user computing in the Met Office
* Small Projects to help improve our End User Computing services and internal team processes.
* Proactively reviewing the Incident and Task queues and taking ownership of support requests.
* Administering and updating policies, procedures, and support documentation
* Providing exceptional customer experience and service, to internal Met Office staff.
* Training & continued professional development both on the job & with dedicated training time & paid qualifications.
* Show an awareness of developing process efficiency and common ways in which processes are optimised.
* Autonomy in provision of support and working under routine direction.

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:
1. Keep evolving - Is studying for an undergraduate degree with a significant numeracy, science and/or IT element
2. Expert by nature - e.g. Hardware maintenance, networking, modern device management, or possesses knowledge of at least one programming language or equivalent
3. Live and breathe it - e.g. A keen interest in IT outside of your university experience, could be codding, mini projects, robotics, gaming & more
4. Better together - Evidence Of working within effective and well-functioning teams in either work or an academic setting
5. Better together - An appreciation of customer needs and the importance of good customer service, and communication skills
