City & Hackney CAMHS are excited to be recruiting to a full-time post as a Specialist Clinician for the Mental Health in Schools Support Team. We have two posts:
1 x Permanent and 1 x WTE Fixed-term post.
The role will help to develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects and system change. We aim to deliver whole school and whole community approaches to supporting young people's mental health. The post holder will supervise trainee and qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) trainees.
In addition to providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, risk management and interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in special school settings, the post-holder will clinically and operationally lead a diverse range of professionals who will work in a range of primary and secondary schools across the borough.
We are looking for a confident CAMHS professional with a demonstrable track record of providing good quality evidence based interventions, improving service quality with a strong interest in service development. You will be either a Nurse, Social Worker, OT, Psychotherapist, Family Therapist or Psychologist with the requisite professional registration. The community served is multi-ethnic and culturally diverse and we welcome applicants who are skilled at working with the richness and complexity of our multicultural context.

Person Specification
Gateway Education, Training and Qualifications
* Clinical qualification and professional registration in one of the following: Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Family Therapy, Art / Drama Therapy, Child Psychotherapy, or another relevant training with significant associated child experience (e.g. qualified counsellor/ CBT training).
* Qualifications/ training in specialist skills, e.g. CBT or CBT-P post graduate diploma.
Experience & Training
* Experience of working within CAMHS or a relevant child related field.
* Experience of delivering evidence based assessment and treatments with children and young people presenting with complex presentations and emotional/behavioural problems.
* Substantial experience of working within Early Intervention Psychosis service, with evidence based approaches for psychosis, low mood/depression, anxiety, behaviour problems, trauma, emotional dysregulation, self-harm and suicidality.
* Substantial experience of risk assessment and risk management; and working with clients in emotional crisis.
* Knowledge and experience with working with safeguarding issues and serious mental health problems.
* Experience, skills and flexibility to contribute to and facilitate effective working within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
* Enthusiasm and experience of using routine outcome measures.
* Experience/knowledge of working in a multi-ethnic community and of working with interpreters.
* Experience of assertive outreach.
Abilities and Skills
* Evidence of well-developed, clinical skills and knowledge in CAMHS.
* Specialist clinical skills within specific therapeutic modalities, in particular cognitive behaviour therapy.
* Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments.
* Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work flexibly according to need.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; at an age appropriate level, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to children, adolescents, their families, carers and professionals within and outside the NHS.

Knowledge
* Knowledge of current guidelines in evidence based assessment and interventions for first episode psychosis and bipolar disorder.
* Knowledge of current guidelines and recent developments in evidence based assessments and interventions for children and young people with mental health problems/disorders (including internalising and externalising presentations).
* Knowledge of research methodology consistent with CAMHS practice.
* Sufficient knowledge of other modalities to engage appropriately with colleagues and their work with clients.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as required by professional guidelines.
* Knowledge of legislation, e.g. the Children Act and the MHA 1983 and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management and mental health in relation to children, young people and their families.
* Knowledge of current developments in CAMHS.
