Trainee Production Team Leader - Day Shift

Hours - 6am to 6pm 3 days on, 3 days off
Salary £25,549-£29,804 plus potential 8% bonus
Our Wellingborough based client is recruiting a Production Team Leader on a permanent basis. The main priority of this role is to support the Production Manager in the day-to-day running of the operation. You will be accountable and responsible for all duties pertaining to the smooth operational running of machines and/or area of control on your shift.
Main Responsibilities/Duties
1. Production tracking and achieving site performance and quality targets through the effective and efficient planning and running of the shift.
2. Understanding the HS&E and ensuring the policy is brought to the attention of all employees, particularly new starters.
3. Enforcing Health & Safety protocols to effectively protect staff, contractors, and visitors.
4. To be accountable and responsible for your own and others' health and safety.
5. Motivating a team of operatives through good communication, training, and development to ensure staff understand their roles and the role within the team.
6. Downtime capture of machine throughput.
7. Communicate and liaise with the maintenance team.
8. The implementation and monitoring of company processes and procedures and capturing all administration through to completion, including accurate and timely completion of management reports.
9. Timely production of shift production planning prior to the next shift commencing.
10. Provide cover for the supervisor/manager when required for liaising with customers and suppliers.
11. Monitor stock rotation through a FIFO system.
12. To carry out QC checks in line with processes.
13. Carry out various hygiene tasks including the monitor and implementation of PPE equipment to all staff.
14. Check pre-start checks on machines.
15. Leading a team in a hands-on role, in the warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
16. Completing any JES audits against agreed schedules.
17. Lead in the distribution of shift handover notes prior to shift commencement.
18. Rotation and Organisation of labour within their area of control.
19. Communication with customers when required.
20. Ensure that general housekeeping adherence is maintained, including site cleanliness and individual's complete tasks that have been assigned to them in accordance with your time scales.
21. Confirm new Young Workers are given additional support, training & confirm they have an experienced person with them until proficient.
22. To ensure pre-shift inspections for MHE are carried out correctly and process is followed for VOR equipment.
23. Ensuring all COSHH materials are stored correctly and have relevant MSDS sheets and risk assessments.
24. Ensure all accidents and near miss events are reported immediately with sufficient root cause analysis documented and copies supplied to the SHE team.
25. Ensure adequate fire safety arrangements are in place.
26. Driving health and safety through the team with an infectious and passionate approach.
27. When necessary, issue Point of work risk assessments or method statements for any ad hoc work.
28. Ensuring all critical control documents and other records are maintained and updated daily so that all statutory requirements are met.
29. Carry out HR tasks as necessary for example return to work and holiday planning procedures.
30. Liaise with agency worker provider.

12. PC / IT Skills - Able to complete all duties requiring use of applications such as SharePoint, Excel, Word, Emails, and Teams. Complete hourly trackers, shift reports, and site management information systems.
13. Open Minded & Adaptable - Is approachable and open-minded to other people's ideas, being prepared to try new ways of working. Adapts to different situations with a flexible approach to operational changes and people's views.
