It is a publicly owned company established by the Department for Transport in 2018. Our ambition is to deliver safe, secure and sustainable transport to everyone, everywhere. At the heart of this promise is improving journeys and providing customers with an excellent service, while supporting the industry to build a more passenger-focused railway We currently have four train operators: London North Eastern Railway, Northern, Southeastern and TransPennine Express, delivering four and a half thousand services a day, and 300 million customer journeys across our network every year. Over the next 3 years, we will complete the transfer of all passenger services operated under contracts with the Department for Transport. The Public Affairs communications function sits within the wider Corporate Affairs and Communications Directorate and plays a key role in supporting the development and delivery of DFTO’s Corporate Affairs & Communications strategy. The Public Affairs Campaigns Manager will work with the Head of Public Affairs and will play a vital role in the Public Affairs Team to advocate and promote DFTO and the wider rail reform agenda. About the Role Manage and coordinate DFTO Public Affairs Campaigns to ensure effective delivery. Ability to work with internal and external partners to deliver positive results. Monitor stakeholder needs and expectations, adjusting engagement strategies as necessary to address any changes in the environment or stakeholder priorities. Proven track record in developing and executing stakeholder engagement strategies at a senior level. Ability to build and maintain long-term positive relationships with stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple stakeholder engagement projects simultaneously. Support the wider communications teams as required. Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal). Minimum of 5 years’ experience in stakeholder relations or a relevant field. The ability to move at fast pace with competing priorities. A self-starter who can work independently. A creative problem solver A flexible team player with a proactive approach to delivering positive outcomes. Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to inform decision-making.
