Engineering and Quality Assurance Support Manager RNAS Culdrose, Helston Cornwall Permanent, Monday- Friday Competitive salary plus benefits Serco have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering and Quality Assurance Support Manager to join the team at RNAS Culdrose based in Helston. Reporting to the Contract Manager/Contract Director you will advise and guide the RN Portfolio Contract Leadership team and work closely and collaborate with external compliance roles on all Quality Assurance matters. This role will lead a team across the RN Portfolio for Serco RN Support contracts with a significant focus on personnel and operational capability, ensuring excellent service to the customer, strong financial returns, service improvements and business growth. Main Accountabilities: Be a focal point for Quality Assurance for logistics, airfield services and engineering systems. Lead on the Quality Management System, the Quality Assurance plan and ensure continuous improvement. Responsible for delivery of the RN Portfolio 1st line audit programme, and monitoring of progress of closing actions. Ensure 1st line compliance including MRP 145 Regulations and ISO Standard 9001:2018, across all areas of RN Support is completed, Prepare and support external audits, including MAA, ISO, and Authority compliance. Support a safety culture, ensuring adherence to internal and external safety standards. Develop and mentor colleagues on all quality and assurance matters. Provide updates and reports to the RN Portfolio Leadership, Teams and the RN and Leonardo on all assurance matters, including compiling periodic reports and trends and analysis. Support RN Portfolio with Aviation Quality and Occurrence Reporting including recording on ASSURE. Engage with RN and Leonardo Leads on external assurance agencies on 1st line quality assurance matters. Participate in Quality activities, meetings and working groups. Establishing a quality feedback reporting system to the Serco E & AM – RN Support management team, ensuring that any observed non-compliances or poor standards are actioned and managed. Requesting or implementing remedial and preventive actions for findings discovered during quality audits. Ensuring that timely corrective actions have been undertaken to meet the Part 145 requirements. Act as the nominated Voluntary Occurrence Report (VOR) Co-ordinator with the customer lead and reporting a feedback loop to establish a just culture through the Serco ASSURE process. In conjunction with all Aircraft Engineering Managers review and lead, investigations as required into any Aircraft Maintenance Errors (ASIMS) reported. Ensuring best practice and assurance of regulatory compliance by the utilisation of DASOR and ASSURE and any other reporting medium. Capturing and communicating findings and actions from engineering, safety and near miss events. Identifying any adverse trends to the root cause analysis or regulatory requirements in the RA’s and ensuring prompt follow up actions are undertaken for any findings identified. The establishment and operation of an organizational structure, in terms of personnel, procedures and geographical layout that provides a sound framework for safe efficient and effective engineering activity. To ensure all Serco personnel are in receipt of the correct engineering authorisations and hold up to date competency checks in accordance with the RA. To support the development and assessment of the apprentices on contract to meet the NVQ Level 3 requirements. Identifies and implements strategic service improvements across the Contract. Identifies organic business growth and works closely with the Contract Lead to identify and deliver new growth on the Contract. Flexible to travel to other aviation contracts/sites when required Lead Auditor Experience and Qualifications preferably within an Aviation environment. Experience in aviation, especially compliance with MRP 145 regulations. Hold or can hold Level H Engineering Authorisations IAW RA4800, with the ability to hold Level J by exception. A deep understanding of ISO 9001:2015 across all RN Portfolio areas. Hold (or in the process of attaining) an appropriate level of professional registration with IENG or CENG (or IMECH equivalent). Experience in conducting audits and investigations. Experienced Aircraft Engineer with a minimum of 10-years’ experience in either a Civil or Military aviation environment. Demonstrate detailed understanding of the regulated air environment. Strong networking and influencing skills, both with internal and external stakeholders. Analytical skills with the ability to assimilate information quickly, communicate key messages simply and effectively to the business to assist decision-making. Excellent communication skills with the confidence and ability to deliver formal reports and presentations to both internal and external stakeholders. Technically competent. Hold a full driving licence. Be competent in using IT applications.
