Applications are invited for the role of Associate Dean with responsibility for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) for the School of Primary Care in the South West Region.
This is a senior educator role in the new WT&E structure for 2 sessions (8hrs) and is appointed on either a secondment basis from the employing Trust if the successful candidate works in Secondary Care or a substantive appointment if the successful candidate works in Primary Care.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with the Secondary Care Associate Dean for EDI, the role will focus on the Equality Act 2010, NHS England Equality Objectives and agenda along with the South West Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement of Purpose. The post holder will explore and implement initiatives designed to tackle differential attainment across the South West School of Primary Care and work to deliver sustainable and equitable opportunities for GPSTs across the South West region.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
* Liaise with programme teams to highlight issues of ED&I including Differential Attainment (DA)
* Link with the GP Registrar committee to obtain feedback on ED&I/DA issues
* Develop teaching practice to address the issue of DA, promote the Safe Learning Environment Charter and practices that enhance Cultural Competence
* Network outside NHSE WT&ESW to identify areas of good practice nationally
* Facilitate appropriate pastoral support, coaching, mentoring or advice on training to ESs, CSs and GP residents and registrars
* Develop appropriate educational resources and sharing these with colleagues, both locally and across the SW region, in order to promote good practice
* Use appropriate tools of assessment and evaluation; interpreting results and devising suitable plans to meet issues raised

Qualifications
* Primary clinical healthcare qualification
* Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development (example: educator courses, mentorship and supervision, Train the Trainer, etc)
* Educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate diploma or Masters in Clinical Education.
Knowledge and Experience
* Significant experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation at regional or national level, including managing a multi-professional team.
* Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education. Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, related NHS organisations and regulatory bodies.
Skills, Capabilities and Attributes
* Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills.
* Ability to quickly establish personal and professional credibility with colleagues and other key stakeholders.
