Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust
Our Cardiology department has a fantastic opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to support the junior doctors and Consultants of this immersive and supportive team at our Southend Site.
Our Trust has the facility to offer both Cardiac CT angiograms and MIBI scans, sharing the heart and chest department with the respiratory team, where we perform general cardiology clinics, as well as rapid access chest pain, AF clinics, and BNP clinics.
To be considered for this role, you shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis), at least two of which will be in the relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty.
Main duties of the job
In your role as Specialty Doctor, you will be expected to take part in the cardiology on-call medical rota 1:5/1:6 on a weekly basis and participate and conduct 2-4 outpatient clinics each week.
Your role involves 3-4 training/service sessions of cardiac procedures per week. Comprehensive training will be provided in basic & advanced echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, CT coronary angiography, and invasive coronary angiography. Once satisfactory progress has been evidenced, training will be provided in advanced modalities fulfilling the essential requirement to apply for CESR.
We provide good training opportunities for career development within the Cardiology specialty, having our own cardiac catheterisation lab where we perform diagnostic angiograms and implant brady pacing devices, ICDs, and complex devices.
We work in close proximity to a team of around 20 cardiac physiologists who perform echocardiography, treadmill testing, ambulatory monitors, and device follow-ups and also support the doctors with specialist echo (TOE and dobutamine stress).
