Construction & Engineering Solicitor (Junior Partner)
BCL Legal are working with an established award-winning regional law firm who are seeking a Construction & Engineering Solicitor to lead and manage a mix of contentious and non-contentious work, to come in as a Junior Partner. This role involves working closely with the Head of Department and supervising junior team members.
This is a rare opportunity to join as a Senior Associate or Junior Partner, dependant on your level of PQE - with no following required!
The ideal candidate will be confident, commercially focused, possess excellent business development skills, and be adept at building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Construction & Engineering team on a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters, taking on both leading and supporting roles and managing your own caseload.
2. Support the wider Real Estate team on development matters.
3. Proactively identify and target new business opportunities.
4. Raise the firm's profile within the marketplace, maintaining a professional conduct that positively reflects on the firm.
5. Achieve individual targets with minimal supervision.
6. Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and build strong client relationships.
7. Adhere to agreed quality procedures and management systems.
8. Play an active role in developing and delivering seminar and workshop content.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Relevant professional qualification or industry experience.
2. Strong advisory and drafting skills, with familiarity with standard form contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC, FIDIC).
3. Sound understanding of all stakeholders in construction and engineering projects.
4. Experience in all forms of dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, expert determination, and mediation.
5. Team player with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to use initiative to effectively manage and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
7. A measured, rational, and commercially focused approach to problem-solving.
8. Confidence and diplomacy in dealing with clients and other stakeholders.
9. Ability to provide effective supervision and mentoring to junior team members.
