Looking for a rewarding career in the care sector? Being part of a team that is making a real difference to the local community? Working with people with a learning disability may be the type of career you are looking for!
We are excited to announce that we are looking for Outreach and Day Support Workers to join our established Supporting Independent Living in the Community Team within the Portree area.
This permanent post supports our vision of a highly skilled, experienced, flexible workforce that has knowledge and skills in delivering modernised services. You would be a valued member of a dedicated, professional Care at Home and Housing Support Team delivering a high standard of care and support within the local community. You will be supporting people with a learning disability to achieve their personal outcomes. The work is dynamic and varied.
One of our Service's top priorities is nurturing the next generation of staff. The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic and dedicated to delivering high quality care and support and enjoy working within a close team of colleagues. You will be working with and supported by the Service Manager and Band 4 – Senior Workers. The team as a whole will provide you with expert advice on any complex issues, updates of clients, and developing sound practice within your role. A full induction will be provided as well as ongoing training and support throughout your career.
The right candidate will have experience in dealing with vulnerable adults, especially people with a learning disability. They must also have good verbal and written communication skills. There would be an expectation that an SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness and ability to work towards this qualification within an agreed time scale, is an essential part of this post. A full UK driving licence is required by the post holder.
If you would like an informal conversation or to visit the Team before applying, please contact Bryan Powell; Tel: 01478 611895 Email: bryan.powell@nhs.scot

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
