The Opportunity
Due to unprecedented demand, we have a number of vacancies for senior civil/structural engineers working across a multitude of projects including Decommissioning, Nuclear New Build, Defence and Advanced technologies.
Employment Type: Permanent & Contract opportunities available
Your duties and responsibilities will be
1. Deliver Nuclear design work, inspections and construction site support on projects for a range of public and private sector clients within the UK.
2. Concept and Feasibility studies for multi discipline design projects.
3. Analysis and Design using engineering software.
4. Prepare Calculations, CDM activities, Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, Technical reports, Inter discipline design coordination and supervision.
5. Liaise with Technicians in the preparation of Revit models.
6. Work with integrated multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high profile projects.
7. Ensure all work to be carried out with a positive attitude toward safety, both in design and in the office environment.
8. Be responsible for the management of project delivery, and mentor and provide technical support to CS&A Engineers.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
1. MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering or other relevant degree level qualification.
2. Ability to work within, and where required, lead a design team, and also able to collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.
3. Knowledge and previous experience in the design and/or construction of civil engineering solutions using Eurocodes (and ideally American codes).
4. Reinforced concrete and steel design experience.
5. Experience using finite element modelling software and associated post processing software, with experience in validation and verification of modelling tools and their outputs.
6. Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.
It's great if you also have the following
1. Chartered or working towards chartership with relevant institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE).
2. ONR Generic Design Assessment experience is desirable.
The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
