Mainframe Architect

Up to £118,000
Our client, a global leader in IT infrastructure services, is looking for a Mainframe Architect to join their team. This is an opportunity to take on a strategic, technical leadership role, shaping and delivering enterprise-scale mainframe solutions while driving modernization, automation, and cloud integration.
As a Mainframe Architect, you will:
* Lead the design and delivery of mission-critical mainframe solutions across hybrid environments.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, success criteria, and technical strategy.
* Architect and implement modernization strategies, integrating mainframe databases with cloud platforms.
* Provide technical leadership throughout project lifecycles, ensuring optimal performance, security, and resilience.
* Optimize database performance, capacity planning, and high-availability architectures.
* Work closely with Engineers, Architects, and Business Leaders to build scalable and future-proof solutions.
The ideal Mainframe Architect will have:
* 15+ years of experience in mainframe engineering, database management, and enterprise IT architecture.
* Deep expertise in IBM DB2, IMS Database, Adabas, or other mainframe database technologies.
* Strong knowledge of z/OS, JCL, JES, RACF/ACF2, CICS, COBOL, PL/1, SQL, and Natural.
* Experience in database modernization and hybrid cloud integration.
* Ability to articulate the business value of modernization and leverage cutting-edge mainframe capabilities.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a track record of delivering complex solutions.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in Agile environments.
The Package:
* £100,000 - £118,000 base salary
