The Role
As the Labour Manager, you will report into the Head of Industrial Relations and will be accountable for our client's weekly paid staff that operate on various working rule agreements. You will take the lead on any local resourcing conflicts and ensure the best solution is achieved. The Labour Manager's role is to provide effective management of operative labour to support the work of multiple projects.
This role is to provide maternity cover on a fixed term, 12-month contract.

Responsibilities
Labour Forecasting
• Review forecast for all projects weekly ensuring all projects are suitably resourced.
• Respond to operational requests for all ad hoc and urgent resource requests.
• Take an innovative and proactive approach to long-term workforce forecasting over a 12-month cycle.
• Partner with the estimating function ensuring all labour considerations are included in tenders and bids.
• Attend pre-start labour strategy meetings.
Stakeholder Management
• Interact with management of varying seniority and foster a collaborative working relationship.
• Maintain regular contact with the Operative community, responding to queries timely.
• Support in all Operative ER casework, conducting investigations, managing grievances in conjunction with the HRBP teams.
• Be confident to lead and influence stakeholders.
• Regular site visits to maintain high levels of engagement.
Working Rule Agreements
• Maintain an excellent level of understanding of the working rule agreements and legislation.
• Attend industry meetings and engage with union representatives, fostering a collaborative working relationship.
• Deliver local/national Health & Safety initiatives to all sites within the area of responsibility.
• Ensure a relentless focus on Changing Gear that is communicated effectively with our staff and unions.
• Ensure that all staff are paid in line with working rule agreements maintaining a strong working relationship with payroll.
Apprentices & Trainees
• Support with recruitment of apprentices and trainees.
• Play an active role in the induction and onboarding of all apprentices and trainees.
• Provide expert pastoral care towards apprentices and trainees.
• Support apprentices and trainees to maximise their experience and obtain relevant qualifications.
• Ensure talent and success planning for career mapping.
Systems and Tools
• Boost minimum intermediate level of MS Excel capability for forecasting.
• Proficient in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Solid understanding of Time and Attendance systems.
• Cross-transferable knowledge of internal systems and processing.
Qualifications
Essential:
• Relevant M&E installation/construction industry experience.
• GCSE qualification or higher in Maths and English.
Desirable:
• NVQ Level 3 - either electronically or mechanically biased.
• Good knowledge of work rule agreements.
