A Clerk of Works is required to work for an established Quantity Surveying and Property Consultancy. You will be based from home and will be responsible for inspecting and reporting on sites in Lancashire.
The successful Clerk of Works candidate will be responsible for carrying out site inspections across multiple projects, largely within the residential sector and providing reports.
Projects will largely be new build and refurbishment projects and there is strong emphasis within this role towards projects in the residential sector.
As Clerk of Works, you will need to demonstrate an ability in undertaking instructions of building works in progress on new build residential sites. A good knowledge of current Building Regulations and Warranty provider standards is required.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Act as the principal point of contact with the social housing client in respect of the construction quality on site.
* Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure issues are resolved at an early stage and that all stakeholders are satisfied with the quality of the construction process and the social housing end product.
* Manage multiple social housing projects simultaneously and deploy excellent time management strategies to ensure efficient working practices.
* Visit multiple sites on a regular basis using the company car provided.
* Provide the Administration team in head office with dictated reports and photographs following completion of each site inspection.
* Demonstrate a good understanding of the building and housing industry, with basic technical and construction awareness and competence.
* Have good communication skills and a diplomatic manner to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Knowledgeable construction professional with experience in a similar role (Clerk of Works, Employers Agent, Building Control/Warranty Inspector, or Site Manager).
* Previous work for social housing organisations, social housing consultancies, or building contractors/housebuilders is highly desirable.
* Good knowledge of building regulations and the ability to read construction drawings.
* Experience in the use of Microsoft Office 360 (e.g. Word, Outlook & Excel).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Great attention to detail and good time management.
* Strong client-facing skills with demonstrable experience are advantageous.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
* Clerk of Works ICWIC accreditation is highly desirable.
* Other designations such as CIOB, CABE, RICS, IFE will also be considered.
* A formal qualification in construction, engineering, or project management would be advantageous.
