Role: Wellbeing Practitioner (Children and Young People)
Based: West Yorkshire
Hourly: £15 – 17 per hour (dependant on experience)

Duration: 3 months initially with the strong possibility of a permanent role at the end of the placement

Our client, a leading children’s charity, providing support to vulnerable children and young people across the UK, is looking for a number of Wellbeing Practitioners to join their new Open Access CYP Mental Health Service in West Yorkshire.
You will be working with a fantastic team and will be supporting them in introducing and delivering their groundbreaking CYP Emotional Well Being model across Leeds and the surrounding areas.
This will include working closely with a range of professionals and local services and supporting children and young people with low level mental health needs in their centres, schools, and community services.
The role will include supporting children and young people ages 0-25 who are experiencing low level mental health issues.
Synopsis of duties:
1. Providing specialist support and advice to children and young people who need assistance with their mental health.
2. Supporting children and young people aged 0 – 25 through drop-in and crisis work, assisting them (and for young children, their parents and/or carers) with coping mechanisms and strategies, and making referrals.
3. Providing emotional and practical support to children and young people.
4. Initially focusing on supporting children through their Open Access drop-in sessions, with the service extending to provide structured 1-1 sessions to address complex needs.
5. Promoting the service in the local community, in schools, and colleges.
6. Encouraging the child/young person to utilize tools to enhance their mental health and offering coping strategies.
7. Working collaboratively with partners, ensuring the needs of service users are met.
8. Ensuring that safeguarding is of paramount importance and that all safeguarding measures are always followed.
Hours and Shifts:
The service runs from 9am until 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays. They are looking for candidates who can work either 8.30am – 3.30pm and/or 2.30pm - 8.30pm, and between 1 and 2 Saturdays a month.
Ideally, they would like candidates to do one week of early shifts and one late shift, but there is some flexibility around this for the right candidate.
Essential Requirements:
1. Experience of working with children/young people who have suffered from mental health issues.
2. Knowledge of the issues faced by children, young people, and adults when accessing mental health services.
3. Strong understanding of child safeguarding.
4. Preferably a qualification in one of the following: Health or Social Care related degree, JNC Qualified Youth Worker, Counselling/Therapist Qualification, or equivalent.
5. Must have an enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service.
