Job summary We are looking for Generic Therapy Technical Instructors to provide an effective and efficient therapy service. These posts require a level of personal responsibility and we are looking for someone highly motivated, resilient and proactive with the ability to prioritise and manage their own caseload, use their initiative and the ability to work on their own and as part of a team. You will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to adapt to a changing and pressurised environment. Therapy TIs work alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists carrying out therapeutic interventions within clinics, groups or within the patients own homes in order to help them live as independently as possible. These interventions may include facilitating exercise sessions and mobility practice, assessments of activities of daily living and rehabilitation. The therapy teams operate in an integrated way whereby OTs and Physios are encouraged to work together in order to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients. For further information please contact - michelle.walker49nhs.net Main duties of the job To undertake initial assessments of non-complex patients. To apply appropriate anatomy and physiology knowledge to facilitate appropriate decision making. To treat patients individually or in a group in a variety of settings without the direct supervision or presence of an OT/Physiotherapist, including the patients home. To provide direction and guidance to carers and relatives on a range of therapy and mobility activities. To communicate accurate, timely and relevant information to members of the multi- disciplinary team and other organisations/agencies. To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients who may have difficulty understanding or communicating. To communicate condition related information, which may be complex/sensitive, to patients, carers, relatives and other clinical / social care staff. To demonstrate developing dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory skills for assessment, manual treatment and therapeutic handling of patients. Sustained moderate physical effort required when treating patients e.g. stroke patients or patients with long standing mobility problems, for several long periods. Able to adapt own caseload to take on urgent patients or help less experienced staff if they have a problem. Frequent interruptions to work patterns i.e. telephone calls. Dealing with patients who are terminally ill or have long term degenerative conditions or whose condition is worsening.
