An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Grade B or C Fee Earner to join our Clinical Negligence Team at Admiral Law. This is a chance to be part of a growing department within a market-leading firm.
About Admiral Law
Admiral Law is a growing business; we are a legal practice run by a team of experts who specialise in personal injury claims. The customer is always at the heart of everything we do, and we aim to be exceptional in the service we deliver.
Admiral Law operates as a standalone entity within Admiral Group and works as a team with appropriate specialists, benefiting from being part of the wider business.
We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in, and ready for a challenge to help us achieve our aim of creating an excellent service for our customers.
The Role
You will be responsible for running your own caseload of claimant clinical negligence cases from inception to settlement, ensuring the optimal outcome is achieved while acting in the best interests of your client. Exceptional client care skills are key, as well as good time management and organisational skills.
You will possess the experience to manage under supervision a caseload of up to 40 pre-action and litigated cases, varying in both value and complexity. You will be technically proficient and an excellent communicator. You will be committed to delivering a first-rate service to clients and will have a good knowledge of the clinical negligence pre-action protocol, multi-track litigation, and the CPR.
You will be supported in your role by a case assistant and are expected to delegate appropriate work to your assistant and provide guidance and feedback to assist in their development. Part of your role will require you to assist the Grade A solicitors within the team with their high-value/more complex cases, including but not limited to attending conferences, drafting witness statements, and preparing court documents. The combination of having a caseload and assisting on more complex cases will require excellent time management skills and the ability to manage and prioritise tasks while always meeting clients’ expectations, court, and other deadlines.
Key Duties
* Managing a caseload of pre-action and multi-track cases
* Achieving time and financial targets
* Supporting Grade A lawyers
* Mentoring Grade D case assistants
Your Experience
* Experience of running a caseload of clinical negligence claims
* Experience of dealing with both pre-action and litigated multi-track cases
Additional Information
At Admiral, we are proud to be a diverse business where we put our people and customers first. We want you to have an element of freedom to define a working lifestyle that supports this, so we accommodate flexible hours wherever possible. We also have a Smart Working approach whereby employees are required to be in our Cardiff office one day a week minimum to ensure time with their teams (currently, the team office days are every Monday). There may be occasions where business needs require more team/in-office time, particularly during your training and probationary periods. For any new starter, there is a minimum requirement of 1 month in-office training which will include your in-person induction and buddying with your new team. This may be extended to 3 months where necessary.
The core hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am/9.00am - 5.00pm/5.30pm; however, there is an expectation that when required, a fee earner will need to travel to attend upon clients, witnesses, and/or experts, which may lead to either exceeding these hours or staying overnight in a hotel. Similarly, attending court hearings, trials, or conferences/joint settlement meetings may require extended time out of the office. Work outside normal hours is subject to recovery through the department’s flexi-time scheme.
You will be provided with achievable targets (to include settlement and billing). Additionally, you will be expected to play your part in any marketing events, both internal and external.
