Main Duties and Responsibilities Work with outside agencies and organisations to establish and maintain excellent working relationships. Where it’s a new home seeking registration with Ofsted, the RM is to lead the set-up of the home with support from the RI and Director, where required. To effectively manage the day-to-day running of the home. This includes; ensuring regulations and standards are met, supervising staff in developmental and general supervisions, organise/conduct relevant training sessions for care staff, encourage good working relationships with external professionals, monitor the home’s progress, implement working documents to continually improve the home’s outcomes. To create and audit care plans and placements plans and ensure individual and holistic approach to care planning with the young people being at the centre of their care plans. Know and fully understand the Statement of Purpose and run the home in accordance with it and Gemstones Care’s policies. Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Care Standards, including the monitoring of Regulation 44 inspections. Complete Regulation 45 in a timely manner to ensure consistency and continuity. To provide effective leadership, management support and guidance to the care staff in the development of the Children's Home. Ensure the young people in the Children’s Homes are effectively safeguarded and report any concerns to Responsible Individual. Promote and maintain a health and safe environment for all care staff. The RM is responsible for complying with statutory and legal requirements relevant to the home, including COSHH, Health and Safety and all aspects of the Health & Social Care Act. The RM is to take lead of recruitment for the home, including hiring for new staff where required, as well as plan and undertake interviews, and do safe recruitment checks thoroughly. The RM is to ensure the proper application of Gemstones Care recruitment and selection procedures are followed. Oversee the induction process during probationary periods. Identify any training needs and support care staff to pass probationary periods in allocated timeframes. In line with Gemstones Care’s HR support service, where necessary and appropriate conduct, investigate and oversee any disciplinary matters in a professional manner. Take responsibility for all duties associated with regulatory compliance and completing quality assurance checks. Ensure that any matters relating to child protection are managed in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and best safeguarding practice. To ensure that young people’s needs are met with a strong emphasis on communication and participation. Oversee written documents to ensure the young person’s voice is heard and that they are at the centre of all care planning. Review documents to ensure they are complete and accurate. The RM must read and sign off paperwork ensuring it is satisfactory and meets all requirements in the allocated timeframes. The RM is responsible for ensuring the rota is complete, appropriately staffed and up-to-date. The RM will be required to take on-call as and when required. To attend monthly manager’s meetings.
