Santander Procurement is instrumental in supporting Santander UK in delivering its strategy and transformation agenda, improving cost to income, reducing risk and driving value and focus from our Third Parties.
The Category Efficiency Lead will lead the Software category team to achieve its targets. You'll ensure stakeholders understand the end-to-end opportunities within the category and the impact their commercial decisions have for the bank and its customers. Highlighting opportunities to improve the future position through negotiation and cost levers as well as value beyond the pound.
You’ll be able to challenge cost drivers through effective expenditure management but will also be able to effectively utilise data to develop commercial proposals that look beyond the obvious cost opportunities.
The category team are the business units’ key contact to understanding their route to supply, cost drivers and opportunities. They liaise across the organisation to generate a full and accurate category demand, providing analysis on movements from this in the actual demand, and recommendations in how to enhance the banks position.
The category team act as an expert reference point for the banks cost management process and the commercial and external market insights.

* Providing expert advice on commercial opportunities and IT Procurement as a trusted business partner
* Managing Santander UK’s 3rd Parties to optimal outcomes for the RFB (request for bid)
* Managing a team of high performing category managers and supplier management professionals
* Delivering commercial and non-commercial targets to support the bank’s strategies
What you’ll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
* Technical expertise of software procurement and market to connect with the commercial understanding
* Proven experience in process improvement to further drive agile cost control, & Data Management to drive insights, spend conditions and improve communication
* Experience of driving the category management process
* People Management skills to lead the SW (software) team
It would also be nice for you to have:
* Strong influential leadership to drive optimum commercial outcomes
* Understanding of the financial services industry and regulation
* CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) qualification, or equivalent
What else you need to know:
Our preferred location for this role is Milton Keynes but we’ll also consider locating the role in Bradford or Glasgow.
We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs. For part-time / contract roles, your salary, bonus (where eligible) and certain benefits will be prorated to reflect your working hours / contract duration.
* Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
* We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
* 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
* £6,000 car allowance per year
