Overview
We are looking for a bank Band 4 Bank Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the amazing Paediatric Therapy Team. This role is primarily based at Peterborough City Hospital but may involve working at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, so an ability to travel between sites is essential.
Are you enthusiastic and motivated with a passion for caring? Experience of working as a therapy assistant or in a hospital/community rehabilitation environment with children is essential. A willingness to learn and develop is essential along with good communication skills and an ability to work in a proactive team.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting patients with exercise programs and mobility.
* Assisting therapists with discharge planning for children and their families.
* Supporting inpatient rehabilitation on children's wards.
* Assessment, practice, and provision of equipment.
* To carry a caseload of non-complex patients assessing, according to competencies, and devising and implementing treatment programmes within a framework of protocols and/or competency.
* To work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Multi-agency teams to support timely discharge for inpatient and outpatient services.
* To enable patients, their families, and carers in the attainment of their rehabilitation goals by providing treatment programmes developed and monitored by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
* To deliver safe, efficient, and effective patient-focused care in line with local standards.
* To be actively involved in the in-service training programme, including the mentoring and training of Band 2 and 3 therapy assistants and supporting students as required.
* To participate in the provision of 7-day services as required.

Qualifications
* NVQ III in Diagnostics & Therapeutics or relevant qualification for example BTEC, BSc Sports Science/Therapy.
* Evidence of attending relevant musculoskeletal short courses or training.
* English and Maths GCSE grade 4 or functional skills level 2.
Experience
* Experience working in a Therapy support worker role or exercise delivery role.
* Experience of working with children.
* Experience of working with IT systems.
* Experience working with patients or service users within an NHS or exercise delivery setting.
Knowledge
* Understanding of the paediatric physiotherapy role in Health & Social care settings.
* Understanding of managing paediatric acute injuries and long-term conditions.
Key Skills/Abilities
* Effective communication skills including verbal and nonverbal communication.
* Confident and competent in moving/handling tasks including safe practice in the use of equipment.
* Ability to work autonomously carrying own clinical caseload, seeking support from senior staff when required.
* Able to undertake specialist treatment programmes/techniques without direct supervision.
Personal Qualities
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and independently, recognising changes in patients' conditions and reporting appropriately.
* A calm, caring, and empathetic attitude towards patients, visitors, relatives, and colleagues aligned with NHS values.
