Interim Senior Planning Officer (Development Management)

Pay Rate: £33.93 per hour PAYE
37 Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30
This opening assignment is for 3 months
City: Newcastle Under Lyme
You will play a pivotal role in the Development Management team, focusing on delivering the Council's growth objectives.
Key duties:
Lead and supervise planning officers, ensuring adherence to planning policies and performance standards.
Manage and determine planning applications, including preparing reports and making recommendations.
Provide expert advice on planning matters to internal teams, developers, and the public.
Represent the Council at planning committee meetings, presenting complex planning cases.
Handle planning appeals and enforcement issues, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Key requirements:
Degree in Town Planning or related field, and a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
Driving Licence
Strong understanding of planning legislation, policy, and best practices.
Proven experience in development management, including casework, application processing, and committee presentations.
Proven experience managing major planning applications or large-scale/complex planning policy projects.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work under pressure, manage a diverse caseload, and lead a team effectively.
