Mechanical Engineer (Pipe Stress / Asset Integrity)

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in either pipe stress analysis or asset integrity assessments to support our Fitness for Service (FFS) offering and broader mechanical engineering services, including finite element analysis (FEA). This role also includes project management and commercial responsibilities.
The role will operate UK wide in the target regions of: North East, North West, Humber and Scotland with target sectors in: Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Food, Bulk Storage & Distribution, Renewables and Energy.
Your Responsibilities:
* Perform pipe stress analysis using Bentley AutoPIPE or similar software to support asset integrity projects.
* Lead and conduct Fitness for Service (FFS) assessments of pressure systems accordance with design and FFS codes such as API 579 and BS 7910 (if applicable to your background).
* Conduct formula-based calculations and prepare reports on assessments, ensuring compliance with ASME B31.3 and relevant industry standards.
* Check the work of colleagues, including piping analyses and written reports.
* Prepare proposals for new work (tenders) and manage projects commercially and contractually.
* Carry out site-based surveys, liaising closely with clients to determine the scope of support requests.
* Collaborate with other AXIOM departments, such as Materials and Process Safety, to provide integrated asset integrity services.
* Maintain continuous professional development through training, conferences, and seminars.
Your background:
* 5+ years’ experience in either pipe stress analysis or integrity assessments of pressure systems.
* Proficiency in pipe stress analysis software such as Bentley AutoPIPE or CAESAR II
* Experience in Fitness for Service (FFS) evaluations in accordance with API 579 (if applicable to your background).
* Familiarity with pressure vessel (advantageous) and piping design codes such as ASME B31.3.
* A proven track record of technical report writing and delivering high-quality assessments.
* Ability to self-manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong technical and commercial awareness.
* Experience producing piping isometrics and working with 3D modelling/2D engineering drawings (desirable).
* Understanding of NDT techniques and their limitations (advantageous).
* Working knowledge of PSSR and PED regulations (advantageous).
* BSc / BEng Hons Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
* Working towards Chartership with the IMechE is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in or exposure to pipe stress analysis software such as Bentley AutoPIPE or CAESAR II
* Strong knowledge of design and integrity assessment codes and standards.
* Experience with 3D modelling and 2D engineering drawings is desirable.
* Ability to understand and interpret design codes.
* A valid, full UK Driving Licence.
* Very strong interpersonal skills, organisational agility and well-developed influencing skills, ideally in client facing roles.
* Able to meet deadlines to an efficient standard.
* Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
