Software Asset Manager
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: £48,250 - £70,000 ( depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight.
Let us introduce the role
AWE is currently recruiting for a Software Asset Manager for the Enterprise Applications group.
We are looking to recruit an experienced software asset manager to maintain and develop software asset management and associated processes in alignment with SAM principles.
* Lead the continuous development and improvement of SAM processes.
* Develop and maintain ITSM technologies to support SAM.
Key Accountabilities:
* Establishing and maintaining a structured approval process with clear review steps and stakeholder engagement.
* Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all software assets within the organisation.
* Ensuring that software meets industry standards and regulations.
* Improving vendor relationships using SAM tools.
* Develop, implement, maintain, and continually improve policies, standards, processes and procedures for software asset and licensing management.
* Overseeing the procurement processes for software acquisition and license management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and ensure compliance with all software licensing agreements.
* Conduct regular software audits to identify and resolve any discrepancies and identify unused licenses for reprovisioning, maximising cost effectiveness.
* Work with vendors to ensure alignment with licensing terms and conditions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional technology teams, procurement, finance, and legal teams to ensure seamless management of software assets.
* Provide guidance and support to business units on software licensing matters.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure understanding of SAM processes and compliance requirements.
* Generate regular reports on software asset inventory, usage, compliance status, and cost savings.
* Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to optimize software usage and licensing costs.
* Present findings and updates to senior management and other stakeholders.
Who are we looking for?
We do need you to have the following:
* Experience using asset management tools and systems (e.g. ServiceNow).
* Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
* ITIL Service Management foundation certification or equivalent knowledge.
* Experience with software inventory and reporting tools.
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* Ability to engage with stakeholders at various levels.
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:
* Demonstrate knowledge of techniques to optimise licensing and deployment in order to deliver savings.
* Knowledge of cloud-based licensing models and experience managing cloud assets and subscriptions.
* Leadership and management experience.
* Work within a team or as an individual contributor.
* Decision maker with proven problem-solving capability.
You’ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
