Technical Project Manager – 12-month Interim
Day shift, Monday to Friday
Hybrid working - 3 days in office, 2 from home (additional weekend working for cutover and go live)
About the Role
Managing whole project lifecycles, and in conjunction with the business and broader IT team. This hands-on role is responsible for planning and delivering the technical delivery for the Aspire+ UK Project Scope (SAP S4 Hana implementation).
The Technical Project Manager works with project teams and business users to prepare the groundwork, grow understanding and manage concerns before, during and after any project implementation.
Travel to sites will be expected, where necessary, to attend kick-off, progress-tracking and readiness meetings and for the deployment of project/major changes.
This role is part of the IT Team and requires a sensitivity to handling stakeholder concerns without losing sight of the main benefits and timescale of each project. All activities will be required to meet Company quality standards and focus on continuous improvement whilst contributing to the Company’s strategy, while always demonstrating the Company values and behaviors.
Responsibilities
1. Project Planning: Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, testing and budget estimates. Identify project risks and establish mitigation strategies.
2. Lead cross-functional teams: Assign tasks, set clear expectations, and ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members. Provide guidance, support, and coaching to team members throughout the project lifecycle.
3. Project Execution: Monitor project progress, track milestones, and ensure adherence to project schedules. Identify and address any deviations or roadblocks promptly. Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve project-related issues and escalate as necessary, reporting against the business case throughout.
4. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation plans. Proactively monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle. Implement contingency plans to minimise the impact of unforeseen events on project objectives.
5. Stakeholder Communication: Establish and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams. Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones regularly. Address stakeholder concerns and manage expectations effectively.
6. Quality Assurance: Ensure that project deliverables meet the established quality standards. Conduct regular quality checks, perform testing as necessary, and implement corrective actions to address any deviations.
7. Project Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including project plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and change requests. Ensure proper documentation of project requirements, specifications, and decisions made during the project lifecycle. Coordinate the development of user manuals, training materials and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system.
Duties include:
1. Apply a structured change management approach and methodology for people-changes caused by projects and change efforts.
2. Integrate change management activities into the overall project plan where necessary.
3. Manage the technical delivery of the Aspire+ UK Scope, including new applications, application changes, integration and interface.
4. Create and manage measurement systems to track adoption, utilisation and proficiency of individual projects, changes and initiatives.
5. Working closely with Business Users, Project Team and Test Manager to facilitate all testing.
6. Ensure all technical requirements are maintained including test systems, connectivity, networks access and refresh of all systems.
7. Ensure there is a robust cut over and go live plan.
8. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the UKBU to deliver an environment which embraces continual change and a standardised approach to the implementation of IT Projects.
About You:
1. Extensive knowledge of project management approaches, tools and phases of a project lifecycle.
2. Extensive technical expertise.
3. Proficiency with project management software and collaboration tools.
4. Proficiency with tools and metrics needed to evaluate project performance.
5. Proven experience as a Technical Project manager or similar, working as a driver of change within a business.
6. Demonstrable experience of project implementation, working under own initiative and thinking things through to a solution.
7. Technical background and familiarity with software development, integration and middleware delivery, IT infrastructure, or other relevant technical domains.
8. Experience of working in a SAP-based manufacturing environment is essential.
9. Experience of project management within a software delivery lifecycle.
10. Experience of delivering highly complex technologies.
11. Experience in risk management and implementing mitigation strategies.
12. Experience delivering structured frameworks such as project governance, quality standards and committee/board meetings.
