A leading utilities organisation in Wales is currently looking for a Technical Architect, focusing on Operational Technology, to complement the existing architecture team. You will collaborate to ensure that the organisation optimises its industrial processes, enhances resilience, and leverages emerging technologies. This is a great opportunity for an OT Engineer to step up into Architecture.
Your new role
You will be a part of the Architecture team, adding value and expertise from an OT standpoint. You'll be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in OT Architecture/Engineering.
1. Develop and maintain a complex and critical operational technology architecture that aligns with organisational goals and industry best practices.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand operational requirements and translate them into scalable and secure technology solutions.
3. Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of operational technology systems, ensuring compatibility with existing IT infrastructure.
4. Provide technical expertise and guidance on the integration of industrial control systems, sensors, and automation technologies.
5. Design and implement cybersecurity measures for operational technology systems, ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure from cyber threats.
6. Conduct regular assessments and audits of operational technology systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need to be able to influence and collaborate with other teams in the organisation and have the ability to build strong internal relationships. A significant part of this role is the ability to communicate effectively with third parties and internal customers. You will have worked in similar roles and possess a strong knowledge of OT and Cyber processes, as well as the different compliance frameworks associated with the utilities sector.
1. Operational Technology Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA, PLCs, DCS, and other operational technology components.
2. Cybersecurity: Proficient in implementing cybersecurity measures for operational technology, including network segmentation, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
3. Integration Skills: Experience in integrating operational technology systems with enterprise IT systems for seamless data flow and analytics.
4. Emerging Technologies: Familiarity with emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, and edge computing, and their application in optimising operational processes.
5. Communication: Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and facilitate collaboration across departments.
What you'll get in return
This role is hybrid, on a 50/50 basis, typically equating to 2 days in the office one week and 3 days in the office the next.
1. £60k-£65k initially, with yearly increments/pay rises
2. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

4. Your 5% pension contribution will be doubled by the company, meaning 15% of your annual salary will be put into the pension pot (with you only contributing 5%).
